Bangkok Date Nights Under 1,000 Baht
A full Bangkok date for two on 1,000 baht: free galleries and parks, a night market food crawl and the city's most famous pad thai.

A great Bangkok date does not need a tasting menu. With 1,000 baht between two people you can cover an art gallery, a walk above the treetops, dinner and dessert, and still have change for the train home. The trick is to build the night around places that cost nothing to enter, then spend your baht on food.
Here are five stops that work on a small budget. Pick two or three that sit near each other and you have a full evening.
1. Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC)
Area: Sukhumvit (Siam end) · Budget: ฿ · Station: BTS National Stadium
The BACC is the easiest free first stop in the city. The white spiral building at Pathumwan Intersection holds rotating exhibitions on its upper floors, with small shops and cafes lower down. Wandering up the ramp gives you something to talk about without the pressure of sitting face to face.
It also stays open into the evening, so it works after work as well as on a weekend afternoon. Start here, then walk to dinner around Siam.
Good to know: Open Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 to 20:00, closed Mondays. Admission is free. Address: 939 Rama 1 Road, Pathumwan.
2. Benjakitti Forest Park
Area: Sukhumvit (Asok) · Budget: ฿ · Station: MRT Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre
Benjakitti’s forest park section, which fully opened in 2022, has raised walkways that carry you over ponds and wetland with the Asok skyline behind. Go about an hour before sunset, when the heat drops and the towers start to light up.
If you want a longer walk, an elevated path known as the Green Bridge links Benjakitti to Lumphini Park, so you can join stops 2 and 3 on foot.
Good to know: Free entry. The park closes at 21:00, but opening time varies between 4:00 and 5:00 depending on when you check, so early birds should confirm. The closest MRT exit is 3 or 4. BTS Asok and MRT Sukhumvit are also within walking distance.
3. Lumphini Park
Area: Sathon/CBD · Budget: ฿ · Station: MRT Silom or MRT Lumphini; BTS Sala Daeng
Bangkok’s best-known park is a classic low-cost date: a loop around the lake, monitor lizards sunning on the banks, and swan pedal boats if you get there in daylight. Bring drinks from a convenience store and find a bench facing the water.
Good to know: Free entry. The park opens at 4:30. Closing time is either 21:00 or 22:00 depending on the day you check, so plan to be out by 21:00. The swan boats may now be free to borrow, though they used to carry a fee, and they may only run from around 9:00 to 16:00. Neither point is certain, so treat the boats as a daytime bonus and carry a little cash.
4. Jodd Fairs Ratchada
Area: Huai Khwang (Ratchada) · Budget: ฿ · Station: MRT Thailand Cultural Centre
A night market is the most forgiving place to eat on a budget, because you share small plates and stop when the money runs out. Jodd Fairs is now at 129 Ratchadaphisek Road. Note that the original site beside Central Rama 9 closed at the end of June 2025, and some map pins still point there.
Expect most dishes at 50 to 150 baht and a food crawl at 300 to 600 baht per person before drinks, so set a shared limit before you start ordering. The pricier seafood platters can use up the whole budget in one go.
Good to know: Hours vary between 16:00 to midnight and 17:00 to 01:00 depending on the day you check. Arriving between 18:00 and 21:00 is safe either way. Use MRT exit 3 or 4; it is a short walk from both. Check the market’s Facebook page on the day for closures.
5. Thipsamai Pad Thai
Area: Old Town · Budget: ฿ · Station: MRT Sam Yot
For a sit-down dinner that still fits the budget, head to the original Thipsamai on Maha Chai Road, the city’s most famous pad thai shop. The queue is part of the experience and moves quickly. After dinner the surrounding Old Town streets are quiet and good for a walk.
Good to know: Open 9:00 to midnight, closed Tuesdays. Address: 313-315 Maha Chai Road. At last check a prawn pad thai was around 120 baht and the fresh orange juice 100 to 300 baht, so check the menu before ordering. There are also branches at Siam Paragon, King Power Rangnam and ICONSIAM.
Tips for staying under 1,000 baht
- Pair one free stop with one food stop. BACC plus dinner, or a park walk plus the night market, leaves most of the budget for eating.
- Agree on the number first. A shared limit is easier to stick to than a vague plan to keep it cheap.
- Carry cash in small notes. Market stalls and small shops often prefer it.
- Use the trains. All five stops are a short walk from a BTS or MRT station, which saves on taxis in traffic.
- Have a rain plan. BACC is fully indoors, so swap it in if the sky turns.
